Lights charge into postseason
Hot goaltending, balanced scoring has TC in top form

The Twin Cities Northern Lights, staring at a first-round playoff series showdown against the Twin Bridges Lightning, head into the postseason with a head of steam after winning their last three games of the regular season.

The Lights started their weekend on Friday with a 3-2 win over the Wisconsin Mustangs. Three different players scored for Twin Cities, with forward Aaron Stark netting the game-winner and an assist. In goal, a red-hot Andy Kent made 36 saves. Forwards Bill Adolph and Josh Calleja scored for Wisconsin.

Another balanced offensive effort propelled the Lights to a 4-1 win over the St. Paul Lakers on Sunday. Four different scorers lit the lamp for TC, with forward Ted Urschel adding two assists. Netminder Ryan Miech made 19 saves. Forward Jason Menken tallied St. Paul’s lone goal.

Twin Cities wrapped up the regular season in dramatic fashion with a 7-6 overtime win over the Minnesota Owls on Monday. Forward Brandt Keller put home the game-winner in the extra session, while forward Eric Adams recorded a hat trick. Kent made 38 saves to preserve the victory. For the Owls, forward Trent Graham netted a goal and two assists. MORE
