Northern Lights come alive
Twin Cities puts together five-point weekend

October 30, 2007

The Twin Cities Northern Lights got on track last weekend picking up five points in three games.

"We're steadily improving and finding our way," said Lights GM Ross Smith, whose team improved to 5-5-2 on the season. "As our new staff continues to unleash our players' talent and find the right chemistry on our lines, we're look forward to a very bright midseason."

The Lights opened their weekend with a point in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Hudson Crusaders on Friday. Josh Beckey and Erik Olson scored the Twin Cities goals, while goaltender Nate Hardy made 32 saves in the loss. David Hettenbach netted the game-winner in the extra session for the Crusaders.

Four different players scored for the Northern Lights as they doubled up the St. Paul Lakers on Saturday, 4-2. Garrett Anderson (game-winner) and Erik Olson each rang up a goal and an assist, and Jon Boerger turned aside 43 shots between the pipes. Aaron Slagle connected for both Laker markers.

On Sunday, the Lights disposed of the Minnesota Owls, 7-4. Olson tallied two goals and an assist, with Artie Peckskamp adding a goal and two assists. In goal, Matt Toter stopped 41 shots. Sean Graskey notched two goals for the Owls
