What positions are we looking for? Looking at our roster from the past few years, you will see a trend that our team recruiting recent high school graduates who spend one to two years with our team rather than looking for players with existing junior hockey experience. Although we traditionally have had a few high school players or veterans from other leagues, the bulk of our team comes from those who have played in the Great 8 tournament, MN State high school tournament, the Wisconsin Senior Tournament and the Chicago Showcase. We tell our veterans each year that they can't rest and relax over the summer because they must earn a roster spot for the following season just like everyone else. So we sign players by rolling admission until our 25 man roster is full. |

The Northern Lights organization is committed to developing players who want to play at the college and USA Hockey Tier I and Tier II levels. For this reason, beginning this season, we will only accept athletes who have an academic plan that we can show recruiters, who are willing to work hard in addition to playing games, and who have made a commitment to being drug and alcohol free. All players are under 21 years old and our team will not condone violations of the USAH chemical use policy. Please do not send in this form unless you are willing to make these same commitments.
Compared to most junior hockey camps, we intentionally keep our camp size smaller in order to allow our staff to really get a good look at each of the participants. This is especially true regarding goaltenders. We want our camps to be a good learning experience not just a fundraiser, so at the risk of not accepting some very talented players, we must turn some away each year. Our staff is busy looking at potential players during the season, spring, and summer. If you are attending NAHL camps or festivals this spring, or if you are participating in a summer league, let us know in advance so that our scouts and coaches know where they can watch you. |
